Cause Description:
The mission of the Los Angeles House of Ruth is to provide temporary and transitional shelter and supportive services for homeless battered women and their children. Los Angeles House of Ruth, a 501(c)3 nonprofit shelter, was started in 1978 with the goal of helping homeless families achieve a self-directed life with safe and secure housing, food, income, and independent living relationships. Starting as a 4-bed shelter, the shelter has expanded to consist of three houses located in the same neighbor hood with 49 beds. During the past fiscal year, the House of Ruth served more than 140 women and children. Additionally, we provided emergency food and clothes to more than 50 families, case management services to more than 40 families, and referrals for emergency services to over 500 people.
