Cause Description:
This year marks the 20th anniversary of the Pierce County AIDS Foundation providing care and education services to the people of Pierce County, originally organized as a project of Associated Ministries in 1987. Over 1,600 people with HIV/AIDS have come to the Pierce County AIDS Foundation for services, and 600 persons are known to have died from complications related to AIDS as of June 2005. Pierce County has the second highest incidence of AIDS in the State, with nine percent of the total number of cases in Washington, and is the area seeing the fastest growth in the epidemic in all of Washington State.
