Dreams Fulfilled Through Music strives to develop the personal accomplishment, social growth, and self-esteem of children & adults with special needs through therapeutic music education & performance opportunities. We plan to accomplish this by providing financial grants for tuition, supplies, instruments to eligble clients nationwide. In the future we also hope to have transportation grants available to help offset the rising cost of fuel to transport clients to music therapists and teachers. We are a relatively new organization, chartered in Feburary 2005 in San Antonio, TX. This organization was founded by Kathryn Marie Archuleta and her mother Mary Kathryn Archuleta. This dream first began seven years ago when Kathryn completed her Girl Scout Gold Award project. (equivalent to attaining the honor of Eagle Scout as a Boy Scout) In March of 1999 when Kathryn organized a benefit concert entitled "Children With Disabilities Studing Music" or CWDSM for short. CWDSM raised over $3800 in cash donations through ticket sales and sales of advertising in the program book. Kathryn, with the cooperation of several music publishers and dealers was able to turn this $3800 in to a music library worth over $5000 which was given to clients as they needed it. In May of 1999 Kathryn learned first hand what the needs of the differently abled community were when she was severely injury by a school backpack, leaving her in chronic pain, using a wheelchair most of the time. Kathryn's dream was originally to continue CWDSM every year after 1999 but with her injury, plans for another benfit had to be put on hold. Last year her health finally allowed her to move forward with incorporation and applying for 501(c)3 tax status which is still pending. With God's Grace and the help of many volunteers Dreams Fulfilled Through Music can touch many lives with the sweet sound of music.
