Cause Description:
Growth & Learning Opportunities (G.L.O.) has been providing safe and quality before-and after-school programs since 1982. Parents and teachers at the West Portal School began what was then called West Portal CARE to provide a nurturing environment for their children after the school day was over. Today, we operate five, fully-licensed programs at San Francisco public schools, with sites at four elementary schools and a middle school. We also have programs on school holidays and several summer camp programs. In all, G.L.O. serves approximately 850 San Francisco children and their families year-round. G.L.O. is licensed through Community Care Licensing. In 2005, two of our sites received the prestigious accreditation of the National After-School Association. Two additional sites will be applying for accreditation soon.
