PFLAG/Austin is a chapter of PFLAG National based in the capital of Texas, and a 501-C-3 charitable organization. Parents, Families and Friends of Lesbians and Gays (PFLAG) promotes the health and well-being of gay, lesbian, bisexual and transgendered persons, their families, and friends through: - Support, to cope with an adverse society; - Education, to enlighten an ill-formed public; and, - Advocacy, to end discrimination and to secure equal civil rights. PFLAG provides an opportunity for dialogue about sexual orientation, and acts to create a society that is healthy and respectful of human diversity. Founded in 1981, PFLAG is now organized in more than 440 communities across the United States with 80,000 household members, and in 11 other countries.
