Cause Description:
This 46-acre forested parcel preserves access to the Metacomet-Monadnock Trail and protects the homesite of Calvin Swan (1799-1875), a freeborn African-American who lived in Northfield MA. It preserves a scenic overlook on the M&M trail and is part of the large forest blocks between the Quabbin and the White Mountains. It is the first conservation project in the Town of Northfield. Donations are needed to repay the loan for purchase.
