Cause Description:
The Neo-Futurists have been at the forefront of introducing audiences to socially relevant, original live theater in Chicago and beyond since 1988. Our innovative and unique style of non-illusory performance speaks directly to audiences about important issues in the world today and has been a magnet for young and adventurous theater-goers. Over the course of 17 seasons, we have created 52 original, full-length productions, presented the wildly-popular, ever-changing Too Much Light Makes The Baby Go Blind 50 weeks a year, helped shape the growth of late-night theater in Chicago, and nurtured the artistic growth of the more than 60 artists who have been part of our artistic ensemble since the company’s founding. All Neo-Futurist productions are world-premieres written and directed by members of our artistic ensemble. Our work has received wide acclaim for its adventurous form and socially relevant content, with The New York Times recently describing our work as "an ideal entertainment for an audience with eclectic tastes."
