Cause Description:
Our mission/purpose is to help, care for and rescue (if necessary), abused, abandoned or sick animals utilizing the highest ethical standards. We provide the veterinary care, the medical care and the best possible shelter/foster home until the right permanent home has been found. In cases where the animal is better off in our permanent facility (which we hope to build), because he/she is too old, or has been passed around, or needs constant supervision, we care for he/she until the end of his/her natural life. Animals are only adopted out to their new homes after they have been vet-checked and they have been spayed/neutered by one of the trusted veterinary clinics we use all over the Lower Mainland. We plan to establish a permanent facility, which will be a permanent structure/home for many animals (mostly dogs) who are just too hard to place or who are too old. This will be a place of peace and a place where people would like to come to interact with the animals and have the time to really find the companion they are looking for. We plan to work hard towards the cessation of back yard breeding. We feel that many problems are created by such indiscriminant continuous breeding, the purpose of which is "just to make a few dollars", without a care as to where the "product" of this breeding is actually going to end up. We are not trying to undermine the work and efforts of respectable and responsible breeders, who have a code of ethics. In this context, we plan to create and implement programmes to educate on the "side effects" of back yard breeding and the purchase of those animals. We provide an alternative to euthanasia of perfectly healthy animals or animals who can be rehabilitated with the right care. We work primarily in Vancouver, the Lower Mainland, and Vancouver Island. However, some of our dogs have been adopted out to approved homes in other provinces.
