Cause Description:
The Phelan-McDermid Syndrome Foundation supports the families of children diagnosed with Phelan-McDermid syndrome, a rare genetic disorder that causes severe developmental delays. Just over 4,000 individuals worldwide have been diagnosed with the rare syndrome. One of the events supported by the Foundation is a biennial conference where families, clinicians, and researchers gather to share the latest information and provide researchers the opportunity to study individuals with the syndrome. Financial contributions offset the cost of this conference. Donations are also used to fund research opportunities and to build an endowment fund.
