Since its inception in 1981 as an entity to determine the fate of Raoul Wallenberg, a Swede who risked his life saving thousands of Hungarian Jews in 1944 and then disappeared after the war, The Raoul Wallenberg Committee of the United States, a 501(c)(3) educational organization, has been dedicated to perpetuating his legacy of nonviolent heroism. That mission – to encourage mutual respect, tolerance, civility, and moral courage among all people – guides our efforts today to help schools, community-based programs, after-school programs, universities, and prisons build a stronger citizenry and nation through our unique academically rich character education program, A STUDY OF HEROES.
