Cause Description:
My name is Joy M Bastow; I am a young woman in Waco, TX that is reaching out to the world for help in supporting my cause. I have a reconstructed heel and I have gone past the medical books for procedures. The unfortunate part of that is most doctors say amputation is the only procedure left. I disagree; I have been fighting for many years now to save my limb and pushing the medical society to come up with new long term procedures that will lower the number of lower limb amputations for diabetics and special cases like mine in the U.S. After researching and researching I came across a press release: http://www.prweb.com/releases/2003/11/prweb90975.php I contacted Dr. Roukis thru email immediately. Dr. Roukis from the Weil Foot and Ankle Clinic responded that night. He is also in the process of trying to lower the number of lower limb amputations. (www.footankledeformity.com) I am in the process of collecting “gift” donations for my surgery as well as getting a charity started to help others in need of this procedure. If there is any help you can give me whether it is support, donations, or suggestions please let me know. Any help is greatly appreciated.
