Cause Description:
Wildlife Care Association provides medical services and extended care to over 7,000 sick, injured, and orphaned animals in Sacramento, California, and surrounding areas, each year. Trained volunteers examine the animal, give them emergency care, and determine further needs. Local veterinarians are available to give expert care for major medical problems. Once the animals have recovered from their injuries, or if orphaned have grown and learned to hunt and fend for themselves, they are released back into the wild, giving them a second chance at life. WCA works under permits from the CA Department of Fish and Game and the US Fish and Wildlife Service. We are a non-profit, independent, volunteer-operated organization, with membership in the International Wildlife Rehabilitation Council and the National Wildlife Rehabilitation Association. Orphaned, sick, and injured wildlife are brought to our trained volunteers by concerned citizens, as well as by agencies such as the California Department of Fish and Game, US Fish and Wildlife, Animal Control Agencies, Parks and Recreation, and Sacramento and Placer County SPCA's.
