Cause Description:
Underdog ResQ is a non-profit 501(c)(3) dog rescue dedicated to the rescue of good dogs that may otherwise be euthanized in New England and the New York Tri-State Area animal shelters due to lack of resources and breed discrimination.
Underdog ResQ is expanding rescue services to NY. Now that two members of the group have moved there, they have already started rescuing and fostering dogs from NY.
We currently have volunteers and foster homes in MA, NY, RI, NH, NJ and CT. More volunteers and foster homes are needed in these areas.
The Purpose:
to rescue dogs of adoptable temperament and match them with appropriate families despite their breed or age
to prevent the surrender of dogs by providing training, behavior and breed advice to dog owners having difficulty training their dogs
to build a community that will work together to save good dogs from animal shelters by collaborating with local shelters, animal control agencies and rescue groups
to screen adoption applicants in order to place dogs in permanent homes
to recruit more volunteers so that Underdog ResQ is able to expand its services and admit more dogs at one time
Values:
a commitment to rescue dogs of various breeds as well as mixed breeds as long as they are of adoptable behavior
an obligation to excellent service by responding to inquiries and applications within 48 hours
Accomplishments:
Thanks to your generous donations, Underdog ResQ was able to sponsor two volunteers to help out with the animal care and search efforts in New Orleans in September of 2005.
Underdog ResQ has rescued 75 dogs (and one cat) as of May 2006 since June 2004.
Underdog ResQ now has a shelter fund - The Scruffy Fund - that is restricted to raising funds to build our very own shelter in the future. If you would like to restrict your donation for this purpose please make sure to let us know.
Underdog ResQ has stuck with its mission and has not discriminated against any dog because of breed or age.
Underdog ResQ started with 4 volunteers and has grown to over 70 volunteers as of April 2006.

Without foster homes, Underdog ResQ would not be able to accomplish its mission. Without donations, Underdog ResQ would not be able to operate. Without volunteers, Underdog ResQ would not exist.
