Cause Description:
“The most important thing in education is to teach young people to think for themselves,” Dr. Schweitzer had told Hugh O’Brian in 1958 thus compelling him to start Hugh O'Brian Youth Leadership (HOBY). Since its creation over 46 years ago, HOBY has touched and inspired more than 300,000 students around the globe, many of whom now are in prominent civic, corporate, and government positions. HOBY’s programs focus on America’s democratic, economic and educational systems, building leadership, critical thinking, and volunteer service skills among exceptional sophomores who are America’s future corporate and civic leaders. A main component of the seminars is our Service Learning and HOBY Ambassadors pledge 100 hours of community service in their local communities.
