Cause Description:
Since its dedication in 1997, SNC, located in the Cache National Forest east of Logan, Utah, has brought high quality programming about the natural world to northern Utah. Our building serves as our headquarters and classroom while Cache Valley and the Bear River Mountain Range serve as our laboratory. Our mission is to provide opportunities for students of all ages to explore, learn about and develop appreciation and stewardship for our natural world. We offer innovative onsite and outreach programs as well as field trips within the forest and throughout Cache Valley. The highest priority for SNC is to provide well rounded natural science programs for school children, teachers, and the Cache Valley community, thereby building an environmentally literate citizenry that can compete in our global economy, that has the skills, knowledge, and inclinations to make well-informed choices, and that exercises the rights and responsibilities of members of a community. The current facility offers the public many hands-on activities, changing interactive displays and opportunities for workshops and educational programs. The center offers summer day camps, summer story series, and community programs that provide learning opportunities and hands-on experiences for all ages. Increasingly we take our programs out to the community, or transport classes and other groups to various locations in northern Utah to participate in SNC activities.
