Cause Description:
The continuing mission of LCVEF is to strengthen the capacity of the environmental movement to mobilize citizens as informed voters and advocates for sound environmental policies. Incorporated as a 501(c)(3) in 1985, LCVEF launched its grassroots programs in 1995 in order to energize the environmental movement’s base of citizen support at the state level. Since then, LCVEF’s programs in training, technology, research, and public education have directly strengthened the capacity of 500 national, state and local environmental organizations. Its non-partisan voter participation programs have helped mobilize millions of members of environmental groups through infrequent voter contact, absentee ballot enrollment, ballot initiative work, and partnerships with allied groups. Today 31 staff people work in 10 regional offices across the country, including a national office in Washington DC.
