The Benjamin N. Cardozo School of Law of Yeshiva University mourns the tragic and untimely loss of Barbara Bracher Olson, Cardozo Class of 1989, who died in the terrible terrorist attack on the Pentagon on Tuesday, September 11, 2001. Mrs. Olson illustrated her distinctive brand of courage in the final moments of American Airlines Flight 77 when she phoned her husband, Theodore B. Olson to alert the world to what was going on and to get his advice on how to comfort the pilot. At Cardozo she was chapter president of the Federalist Society, then became chief counsel for the House Government Reform and Oversight Committee. She went on to be a commentator of Fox News Channel (and many more such news channels and programs) and a best-selling author. Her career was marked by integrity, courage and infectious enthusiasm. Our sympathy is extended to her husband, brother and sister as well as the families of the many innocent victims of the horrible attack on our country. An endowed memorial scholarship fund is being established that will help women, who exemplify Mrs. Olson’s ideals and vision, attend law school.
