Standing Tall is a nonprofit organization providing educational programs to children with physical disabilities. Standing Tall was founded by parents, educators and medical professionals working together with one mission: to improve education and promote independence for children with motor impairment. Standing Tall provides physically challenged children with full-time and part-time educational programs designed to train body and mind. In small classes, students pursue a highly structured intensive physical program combined with traditional academic studies. Active, hands-on physical experience of the world is a key part of the teaching methodology, and Standing Tall's teachers incorporate movement and functional physical activity throughout the child's academic program and in all aspects of their day. Standing Tall's children thus use their bodies actively throughout the day while learning reading, math, literature, science and art. The children get out of their wheelchairs - quite literally "standing tall" - to meet physical as well as academic goals.
