Established in 1895, Union Settlement has over a century of experience and expertise. Founded with a belief in the rights of every individual, Union Settlement continues to nurture human potential and foster self-help. It is the largest social service agency in East Harlem and runs one of the largest adult education programs in the community. The agency operates out of 16 locations, has an experienced staff of more than 400 full-time professionals, 150 part-time employees and more than 100 volunteers. Union Settlement annually serves more than 12,000 people of all ages with effective programs in five major departments-Child Care, Youth Services, Mental Health Services, Adult Education and Services for Older Adults-as well as three closely-linked separately incorporated entities-the Settlement College Readiness Program, the Union Settlement Federal Credit Union and Union Settlement Home Care.
