Cause Description:
The British Columbia Youth Parliament is a non-profit and non-partisan organization dedicated to serving the youth of British Columbia. Ninety youths from across this province ages 16-21 gather annually for a five-day session in the Legislature in Victoria from December 27-31 where legislation governing the organization's activities throughout the year is decided upon. BCYP's history has shown this organization provides excellent opportunities for leadership, citizenship, service and learning for its members. Annual service projects that are undertaken include regional youth parliaments which are organized in almost every district of the province for high school students, a debate tournament, and a summer camp for underprivileged children. In addition, fundraisers are organized and each member of the House must participate or initiate a service project of benefit to their local communities.
