Cause Description:
The YWCA of Glendale founded on 1926 has two main programs the Domestic Violence Project and Encore Plus Breast and Cervical Cancer Prevention Programs. The Domestic Violence Project of the YWCA of Glendale has been offering services to abused women and their children since 1979. The goal of the Project is to empower women and children who are victims of domestic violence to achieve independence, self-sufficiency and a lifestyle free from violence. We provide confidential, emergency shelter at Sunrise Village, and transitional housing at Hamilton Court and Step Ahead. The Project also provides outreach, education, counseling and training services at our Women's Center in South Glendale. ENCOREplus was created to reach out to all women who face obstacles to getting high-quality, affordable breast and cervical cancer screenings, and referral to other health-related screenings.
