Cause Description:
San Francisco Street Project, Inc. (SFSP) is a non-profit community service organization that provides a vital link between young professionals wishing to volunteer and the many community service organizations in the San Francisco Bay Area that need them. The "link" is created through structured weekend and evening projects organized by our project leaders to suit our volunteers' interests and need for flexibility. Our monthly newsletter, distributed by e-mail to over 1,000 members in the Bay Area, describes a variety of volunteer project opportunities. Interested individuals simply sign up and arrive at the scheduled day and time. San Francisco Street Project was founded in 1991 by young working people with the needs of others like themselves specifically in mind, inspired by a highly successful community service organization in New York City. From that time to the present, SF Street Project has increasingly contributed to the needs of the San Francisco community through the interest and commitment of its members.
