By using the power of education - inclucing non-formal education - World Education is responding to some of the most important issues of our time: the widening gap between the rich and the poor, population growth and reproductive health, the empowerment of girls and women, the HIV/AIDS crisis in developing countries, the economic security of families, maternal and child health, literacy, self-governance and the stability of new democracies, and environmentally sustainable food production. During its 50 years of work, World Education has earned great respect among all those involved in international development. World Education depends upon and welcomes contributions from people who recognize the importance of these issues and are looking for effective ways of responding to them.
