Cause Description:
TOVA is a non-profit theater company that is committed to creating and performing artistic projects that speak to issues of social change. In our Theater of Witness technique, performers are everyday people who are concerned about the social issue of the project, who collaboratively with the Artistic Director and composer, tell their stories through spoken word, movement and music. TOVA works with communities and individuals to create workshops, theater pieces, videos, educational and outreach projects that empower, stimulate and inspire people to explore issues of diversity and commone ground. TOVA seeks to challenge steretypes and five voice to those who are not often heard within our society. TOVA's projects have addressed issues of refugees, mental heath consumers, domestic abuse witness, survivors and perpetrators, men in prison, women's issues, men's issues, home and homelessness, teen substance use and post-partum depression.
