The Animal Welfare Association is a not-for-profit organization that operates an animal shelter and adoption program, caring for over 3,000 animals every year; low-cost spay/neuter clinic; humane education program for children; Pet Assisted Therapy program in which "therapy" dogs and cats and their volunteer partners visit nursing home residents. The shelter provides a safe haven for animals in need as well as operating a low-cost spay and neuter clinic that is open to everyone.
