Cause Description:
The Animal Adoption League was started in 1992 by a group of individuals concerned by the growing number of animals in our area: · Dying at shelters (not necessarily humanely) · Injured or killed on our streets and highways · Trying to survive on whatever scraps of food they could find · Abused and/or abandoned by previous owners These are the victims of human negligence; of people who allow their animals to multiply; of people who move off and leave their pets; and of people who are ignorant and uncaring. As members of the League, we offer a loving alternative to these animals that would otherwise have little chance of survival. The Animal Adoption League provides veterinary care, foster care and an adoption outlet for homeless animals. Although The League was started in York County, South Carolina, our dedication and protection has spread to serve North Carolina in Mecklenburg, Gaston, Chester, Cabarrus and Union Counties. Approximately 160 homeless animals are currently supported by the League in foster homes. Several thousand previously abandoned animals are now in permanent, loving homes as a result of our efforts.
