Cause Description:
Mountain Meadow is a private, non-profit charitable organization offering affordable summer camp programming and a year-long youth empowerment program for children of Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender (LGBT) and other progressive parents, as well as for kids who self identify as LGBTQ. Our purpose is to contribute to creating a more tolerant, just and peaceful society by helping to bridge the gap of equality between the mainstream community and the LGBT communities by providing safe and fun programming for children with LGBT parents. Mountain Meadow's programming gently exposes these young people to important social issues such as oppression, homophobia and other types of intolerance, and offering peaceful solutions to these issues; and giving these young people the opportunity to shape their own view of society and offering them the choices to explore and determine their own place in the larger effort towards achieving social justice for everyone.
