The Morton Plant Mease Foundation is the respective fund-raising organization of Morton Plant Mease Health Care, a four-hospital,non-profit health system, serving more than one million people on the west coast of Central Florida in a north-south corridor of care from Largo in Pinellas County to New Port Richey in Pasco County. Morton Plant Mease Foundation currently has assets of $85 million, raising neraly $10 million each year, 100% of which goes directly back into the community in support of community impact programs and charity care. Foundation expenses are covered through interest on our endowment - a unique situation for a health care foundation of our size. This year the Foundation will campaign for a new improved emergency room at Morton Plant Hospital! This 37,000 square foot state-of-the-art facility slated to open in October 2001 will be the largest, most convenient Emergency Department in Pinellas County. In 2001, The Morton Plant Mease Foundation will also launch a campaign to support a $65 million expansion project at Mease Countryside Hospital, which will include a a five-story medical office building, 51 additional medical/surgical beds, 60 observation beds, and four new operating rooms. The community will also benefit from a new Women’s center on the premise.
