Cause Description:
Serving eighteen cities and counties in Eastern Virginia (Middle Peninsula, Northern Neck, Rappahannock and Hanover areas), RAHEC is committed to improving access to health care in our rural, and medically underserved areas. Program areas focus on building community capacity through the Community Health and Education Program (CHED); reducing the isolation of rural medical practioners; promoting the choice of rural practice to the health professional student population; promotion of health careers with an emphasis on minority, rural and disadvantaged students; support for science and math K-12 enrichment programs; and internship opportunities for undergraduate students pursuing acceptance to health professional programs.
