Cause Description:
Living Skills Center for the Visually Impaired teaches independent living skills to visually impaired adults. Participants live in apartments while receiving individualized instruction in cooking, cleaning, financial management, orientation and mobility (travel in the community), adaptive technology, and pre-vocational skills. This is an experiential learning environment in which participants can learn independent living skills by actually living independently. This "learn-by-doing" environment allows students the freedom to struggle with and learn the myriad tasks of daily living, create their own lifestyle, and become active members of a diverse community.
