Cause Description:
The mission of Lake Eola Charter School (LECS) is to enable students to become more rationally conscious persons who possess the ability to act intentionally, ethically and knowledgeably in the context of a democratic community. LECS believes that the foundation for establishing life long learning is a carefully structured curricula which builds mastery of an integrated body of core knowledge in the arts and sciences, together with basic critical thinking and communication skills. Often a rigorous curriculum is sacrificed in order to foster self esteem. LECS believes that genuine self esteem comes from academic accomplishments which are acknowledged and celebrated as milestones throughout the learning process. Student success is based, not on a comparison between students, but on a comparison of the students progress in satisfying core standards. All students are expected to achieve academic excellence.
