Mission & Purpose The mission of Big Brothers & Sisters of Sedgwick County is to help boys and girls, most of whom are considered at risk and live in single-parent homes, achieve their full potential through long-term personal relationships with carefully screened and caring volunteers. Big Brothers & Sisters provides one-to-one adult volunteers for school-aged youth who are referred by educators, social workers, counselors, parents and other interested agencies and individuals. Big Brother, Big Sister, Couple and Family matches provide positive encouragement, role models and exposure to healthy activities. The goal is prevention of destructive behaviors and development of positive habits and attitudes to help Little Brothers and Sisters better realize their potential as adults.
