Cause Description:
Bienvenidos Shelter was started by Beatrice Nevares, a champion of the homeless for ten years. She started working as a volunteer for Saint Elizabeth's shelter, learning the ropes from the bottom up. After two years of seeing people turned away because of inadequate space, she decided to open her own shelter. Using her own money and donations from friends, she rented a building and Bienvenidos was born.
