Cause Description:
Back To Blue has been working tirelesley with the California State Parks in the Santa Monica Mountains of So. Cal. to develop, fund and build a "Gateway To The Santa Monica Mountina" Children's Education Center at Leo Carrillo State park in Malibu. Over 12,000 school children come to this park each year, in addition to the nearly 750,000 park visitors to relax, but still learn about the marine environment as well as the cultural and natural wonders of the Santa Monica Mountains. This education center will let them learn about the Chumash - the Native Americans who once inhabited this region; fire ecology and the importance of this dreaded natural phenomenon; the wildlife that is so abundantly plentiful so near to the urban populations of Los Angeles and Ventura Counties. They will also discover about the undersea world, and how fragile, yet resilient it is to the natural processes of waves and storms.
