The American Association for State and Local History (AASLH) is a non-profit, member driven, professional development association. Founded in 1940, AASLH provides leadership and support for its members, both individuals and institutions, who preserve and interpret state and local history in order to make the past more meaningful to all Americans. Institutions include historical societies, history museums, history sites, libraries, archives, historic preservation organizations, schools and universities. Resources provided by AASLH include regional workshops, an annual meeting, History News-a quaterly magazine, Dispatch-a monthly newsletter, technical leaflets, special reports and videos.
