Cause Description:
Our vision is to help communities create and sustain comprehensive one-on-one and mentor-rich tutor/mentor programs. These programs have great potential to motivate and push youth out of impoverished neighborhoods and toward careers. We accomplish this mission through our own tutor/mentor program which serves 7th-12th graders in the Cabrini-Green area of Chicago and through our Tutor/Mentor Connection (T/MC), which is a growing network of hundreds of programs such as our own. The T/MC is a knowledge and marketing center. Through the T/MC we share ideas with other tutor/mentor programs throughout Chicago, Illinois and the country and help focus attention on what is needed to build a city of great programs and a movement of youth to careers.
