Cause Description:
The Equine Research Foundation is a nonprofit organization whose purpose is to further scientific and public knowledge about equine learning abilities, thereby improving human/horse interaction and aiding equine welfare. All studies are noninvasive and rely on positive reinforcement. These studies are confirming that horses are thinking creatures that respond best to humans who acknowledge their minds and their emotions. Understanding equine behavior is the key to excellence in horse care and horsemanship and understanding how horses learn and how to use this knowledge to help with training, handling, and care is one of the most important aspects of successful horse management. The findings of the ERF are available to the public through many scientific and popular articles, TV & radio programs, and the Internet. The Foundation also offers tax-deductible learning vacations and internships. Donations are used to fund the research and raise public awareness about equine training, handling, care and welfare.
