Zachary M. Tompkins Memorial Fund
Hudson, New Hampshire
Cause Description:
Last March, the 11-year-old athlete and honors
student just never woke
up. Months later, his family discovered that Zach
had Long QT Syndrome,
or LQTS, an inherited electro-physiological disorder
that can stop the
heart without warning.
With the sudden loss, the Tompkins family set out to
fulfill a dream of
Zach's — building a stadium in Hudson, NH. Zach
touched the lives of
many in our community. The plate shown above was
made by Zachary just
one week before his passing. After making it, he
said, "One day I will
own my own stadium." Now, they are making his
dream a reality. The
family has held several fund-raisers — including a
golf tournament and
the "Zach Attack 5K" — which have raised more than
$180,000 over the
last 10 months. The town of Hudson has generously
donated 13 acres of
land for us to build “Zach’s Stadium” on. This
sports complex will
include 2 football fields, a walking path, an ice
skating ring in the
winter and much more. We have also incorporated that
it be mandatory
that all head coach’s for football in Hudson be
AED/CPR certified and
our facility will always be AED equip. Once the
stadium is built we will
also offer free AED/CPR certification.
