Cause Description:
OAR, a community-based restorative justice organization, blends compassion and accountability to assist offenders in leading productive and responsible lives, to the benefit of all. OAR is a 501c3 organization that provides extensive services for incarcerated and formerly incarcerated individuals in the County of Arlington and Cities of Alexandria, Falls Church, and Washington, D.C. Established in 1974, OAR provides educational courses in the Arlington County Detention Facility, assists clients with reentry into the community, and offers classes such as GED, Life Skills, and Impact of Crime to those recently released from jail/prison. In 2010 OAR opened an office in Washington, D.C. and began a Community Service Program for Youth offering mentoring and community service supervision to juveniles involved in the criminal justice system.
