The Humane Society for Greater Savannah is an independent, unaffiliated nonprofit that receives no funds from any government agencies or other Humane Societies. Our Mission is to lead our community in the compassionate treatment of animals, to address the cause of animal suffering and overpopulation, to educate and encourage people to take responsibility for their animal companions and to provide care for animals in need. The thousands of animals entrusted to us each year are surrendered by owners who are unable to care for them or are rescued from among unclaimed animals found or impounded by Savannah/Chatham County Animal Control.
