I have decided that as I turn legal this summer, the day to begin my life is now. GLA, short for Global Leadership Adventures, is the junior Peace Corps. The goals are shared goals with my personal self, and as the organizations mission statement goes: "SERVE a Community GLA operates 1 to 6 week volunteer programs, exclusively in developing countries in authentic, non-tourist communities. Through service work, you'll develop meaningful relationships with local people and make a significant impact. LEARN to Lead GLA believes leaders are made, not born. The GLA experience gives high school students the opportunity to step up in a global context and face real challenges in partnership with the communities they are serving. EXPLORE New Paths No summer is complete without adventure. Each country has its own treasures. Imagine exploring the ruins of Machu Picchu in Peru, zip lining through the pristine rainforests of Costa Rica, or taking a safari in Africa." $5.00 is enough money to get me excited. If grades could buy me this trip, I would be set, but unfortunately a 4.0 GPA doesn't win you an opportunity such as this. Please help me to to help others and begin to live my dreams! (-:
