The mission of Georgia Civil War Heritage Trails® is to create, promote and maintain six historic driving trails across Georgia, for historic education and tourism development purposes, installing National Park Service styled roadside interpretive markers, highway trailblazer signs, creating parking areas, brochures and a website (www.gcwht.org), to interpret Georgias Civil War history at hundreds of sites: not just battles, but also the eras cultural, social and political history.
