The Creative Arts Theatre & School (CATS) was incorporated in Dec 1977 as a nonprofit cultural arts institute. CATS' mission is to develop the human potential of young people from diverse ethnic and cultural backgrounds through performing arts training and performance opportunities. Classes include both Acting and Dance. The annual CATS Spotlight Series of productions offers students the opportunity to perform in professionally produced productions. These performances often represent the first contact with live theatre for many children in the Metroplex. CATS goes to the community as well with offerings by its CATS Company and Kitten Company repertory groups and the CATS DANCE COMPANY. The students in these touring groups present plays and concerts for PTAs, libraries, nursing homes, and other community service organizations.
