We've given away $50,000 in free donations and dozens of prizes to lucky causes since October 2007! Keep surfing for more chances to win a prize for your cause.

Here's how it works:

The original Surfathon sweepstakes was valid 10/1/07 - 7/31/08. For each month during that time period, we awarded $1,000 each to 5 winning causes. Since February 2008, our monthly sweepstakes has included bonus prizes courtesy of each month's sponsoring merchant. Our grand prize $1,000 donation opportunity ended 7/31/08.

During each month of our extended Surfathon sweepstakes (valid 8/1/08 - 12/31/08), we will award a combined total of $1,000 worth of prizes to 5 winning causes. For example, your cause may win one of five $200 gift cards, or one of five products (each with a retail value of $200 or greater). Prizes change from month to month, with current prize information listed here.

  • Visit up to 10 different stores through iGive.com every day, and each of those visits counts as an entry in this sweepstakes.
  • Let's say you visit 10 different stores today, and 9 of your friends each visit 10 stores too - that's 100 entries for your cause in just one day!
  • Keep it up by visiting different stores through iGive.com, every day for the rest of the month. Be sure to tell your friends to do the same.

Really simple, really basic rules that you'll care about:

  1. Limit 10 entries per day, per iGive.com member.
  2. An entry is defined as a visit to a store via iGive.com. Each visit must be to a different store (a store you haven't visited through iGive previously in the same month). For instance, you can visit Gap.com through iGive.com twice in the same month, but only the first visit would count as an entry. There are over 700 different stores you can visit. You can visit the same stores again the following month, and it will count as a new entry at that time.
  3. You must be logged in to iGive and visit the stores using our website or our e-newsletters. Our website must automatically record that visit. If your visit doesn't appear on your iGive.com Store Visits page, the visit to that store doesn't count. There are no manual entries, ever. If for some reason your computer and our computers don't work together well, and we can't record your store visit automatically, you don't qualify to enter this Surfathon. If you're using the optional iGive Shopping Window reminder program, and your visits show up on your iGive.com Store Visits page, that's fine and your visits will count.
  4. This is a contest for people, not computers. Store visits have to be done by you, personally. No automated means for visiting stores is acceptable. Of course, you have to be an iGive.com member. An iGive.com member can only have one e-mail address registered at iGive.com. In other words, there is a limit of 10 entries per person per day.
  5. A cause can only win once in the fifteen month period of this contest.
  6. This rule applies only to the original Surfathon sweepstakes, valid 10/1/07 - 7/31/08:
On or about the 15th day of the month, iGive.com will draw five entries randomly from the prior month's entries. That month, we'll send $1,000 donations to each of the five grand prize winning causes. Additional ("bonus prize") winners may be drawn at random and announced on or about the 15th day of each month, with prizes sponsored by select iGive.com merchants. The cause you are supporting at the time of the drawing is the cause that will get credit for your entries.
  7. This rule applies only to the extened Surfathon sweepstakes, valid 8/1/08 - 12/31/08:
On or about the 15th day of the month, iGive.com will draw five entries randomly from the prior month's entries. That month, we'll send a prize (product or gift card) with a minimum retail value of $200 to each of the five winning causes, adding up to a total combined prize retail value of at least $1,000 per month. These prizes (also called "bonus prizes") are sponsored by select iGive.com merchants. The cause you are supporting at the time of the drawing is the cause that will get credit for your entries.
  8. Bonus prizes provided by iGive.com sponsors will be sent directly to the winning cause by the sponsor. Sponsors are solely responsible for the fulfillment of sponsor-provided prizes (i.e. iGive.com is not responsible).
  9. We'll post you and your cause's running totals on this page (http://www.iGive.com/html/surfathon.cfm). You must be logged into iGive.com on this computer, in order for your totals to be displayed on this page.
  10. This contest is only open to iGive members who have selected a cause to support. You cannot be your own cause.

Rules you may care about, but the lawyers really care about:

  1. iGive.com Holdings, LLC is the sole interpreter of these rules. Our decisions may be arbitrary, capricious, and they certainly will be final.
  2. Contest void where prohibited, restricted, or taxed in any way. We reserve the right to end this contest early, for any reason whatsoever. If we do end it early, we will award that month's donation prizes.
  3. Notification will be by e-mail, sent to the e-mail address registered to the iGive member(s) who are supporting the winning cause. Only those causes listed at iGive.com are eligible to be winners.
  4. All results subject to audit and verification.
  5. Causes are listed by iGive.com members for their own and other members' use. A listing at iGive.com is not an endorsement of iGive.com by the cause, nor an endorsement of the cause by iGive.com. iGive.com is here to help you (the iGive.com member) help the cause you care about.
  6. Any taxes are the responsibility of the winner.
